PIPA/SOPA is a bill that has been introduced in the Senate and the House and is moving quickly through Congress. It gives the government and corporations the ability to censor the net, in the name of protecting “creativity.” The law would let the government or corporations censor entire sites — they just have to convince a judge that the site is “dedicated to copyright infringement.”

The government has already wrongly shut down sites without any recourse to the site owner. Under this bill, sharing a video with anything copyrighted in it, or what sites like Youtube and Twitter do, would be considered illegal behavior according to this bill.

According to the Congressional Budget Office, this bill would cost us $47 million tax dollars a year — that’s for a fix that won’t work, disrupts the internet, stifles innovation, shuts out diverse voices, and censors the internet. This bill is bad for creativity and does not protect your rights.

A first grade teacher is explaining to her class that she is a Democrat and how nice it is that we have a Democrat president in office. She asks her students to raise their hands if they, too, are Democrats and support Barack Obama.

Everyone in class raises their hands except one little boy.

“Tommy,” says the teacher with surprise, “why didn’t you raise your hand?”

“Because I’m not a Democrat,” says Tommy.

“Well, what are you?” asks the teacher.

“I’m a Libertarian and proud of it,” replies the little boy.

The teacher cannot believe her ears. “My goodness, Tommy, why are you a Libertarian?” she asks.

“Well, my Mommy and Daddy are Libertarians, so I’m a Libertarian, too.”

“Well,” says the teacher in an annoyed tone, “that’s no reason for you to be a Libertarian. You don’t always have to be like your parents. What if your momma was a criminal and your papa was a criminal, too, what would you be then?”

It’s alive!  And it’s a nightmare.

The rumors were true: The new Blacklist Bill could effectively destroy YouTube, Twitter, and other sites that rely on user-generated content by making the sites’ owners legally responsible for content their users post.

It also includes provisions that would make it a felony to stream unlicensed content — including cover band performances, karaoke videos, video game play-throughs, and more.

It’s a grab-bag of Halloween goodies for a handful of big corporations — but for us it’s Frankenstein’s monster, cobbled together from half-born bills, set to suffocate free speech and innovation and terrorize consumers and Internet users.

Anybody who tries to tell you so probably thinks Tea Partiers are racists too. Here’s five, no make that six, ways the two groups are polar opposites.

1. The Tea Party is a grass-roots movement rising up from anger with both major political parties.
2. TEA stands for Taxed Enough Already. The Tea Party has two major goals: lower taxes and smaller government.
3. Tea Partiers do not got to rallies with the intent of causing a confrontation with police. They do not block traffic and try to disrupt the flow of commerce.
4. Tea Partiers are Capitalists
5. Tea Partiers respect the rule of law.
6. Tea Partiers go home at the end of the day, take a shower and go to work the next day.

1. Occupy Wall Street is a movement backed by Big Labor and now it has the support of Barack Obama Himself. (After all, these are his peeps.)
2. I’ve looked around online for days and I still can’t find a cohesive statement from the occupy Wall Street crowd.
3. Occupy Wall Street intentionally causes confrontations with police. They want to get arrested and step out in traffic to cause major disruptions.
4. Occupy Wall Street is a Socialist movement that seeks to destroy Capitalism.
5. Occupy Wall Street hippies flaunt the rules.
6. Occupy Wall Street hippies camp out for days, don’t shower and presumably have no jobs.
