What did Obama do in the first two weeks of his administration to earn a Nobel Peace Prize nomination?

By the Nobel Peace Prize committee's own admission — nothing, but they have hope. Here are some direct quotes from their announcement.

The Committee has attached special importance to Obama's vision of and work for a world without nuclear weapons.

The vision of a world free from nuclear arms has powerfully stimulated disarmament and arms control negotiations.

Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future.

Conclusion? The committee knows he hasn't done anything yet, but they have the "Audacity of Hope."

Personally, I see no hope in a President who believes in apology and appeasement. He has recently said it is OK if the Taliban remains a part of the political process in Afghanistan. Our goal should be the elimination of the Taliban and al Queda. Didn't we learn anything from Viet Nam?
